A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Claire DeLong Taylor has been drawing and painting for most of her life. She attended Parsons School of Design and majored in fashion design, but found that her passion lay in creating two-dimensional art, specifically painting. Her paintings, drawings and prints have been exhibited in New York, California and North Carolina, and may be found in private collections in the U.S. and Europe. She currently resides in the southern Appalachian mountains of North Carolina, where she finds inspiration in its rich, natural beauty.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT Narratives from mythical and religious sources, visions and dreams, and the beauty found in nature inspire the themes of my work. It is my intention to represent through my art universal truths that are to be found in stories both ancient and new. Whether executed in oil paint or gouache, metal point or other drawing materials, I endeavor through the expression of my vision to provide the viewer with devotional pictures that encourage and inspire . |
